49 Billion Naira Spent on Women In 4 Years

No, Tiger Woods isn’t in the news again. And no, we’re not talking about what I’d do if I suddenly won the lottery. It’s the Government that has blown that amount. The Government!

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs I, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, yesterday disclosed  this in Abuja when she received the Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, Ms. Michelle Bachelet.

You really can’t make this shit up though? N49billion?

The Minister claimed that the money was used to provide education, health and economic empowerment for Nigerian women in the last four years.

Again, 49 billion???

The Minister, landing more political clichés,  informed her guest that the current administration of President Pappy Jo was committed to gender equity, adding that key positions in the cabinet and national polity were occupied by women who have distinguished themselves and proven themselves worthy of their appointments.

Bachelet, who used to be president of Chile between 2006 and 2010 could not carry last in the compulsory platitudes department. She commended the Nigerian government and implored them to make more efforts towards encouraging female participation in government and politics.

Still though… N49 billion???
